Discover our favourite projects of 2018
2018 saw another incredibly busy year for us here at Four Corners, with fantastic exhibition shows and a stunning array of projects, from bespoke kitchens to contemporary media units and even a project in Antigua!
We have had a great time designing bespoke pieces for our customers and really getting to know what they’d like when embarking on their project. Whether it’s a kitchen for the whole family to enjoy, while making sure the grandchildren are kept safe, or handy built-in storage solutions that look as though they belong, our designers love to explore the possibilities and push the boundaries to ensure each project is as unique as you are.
Discover what we have been up to over the last 12 months, and explore our favourite projects below.
Four Corners conquer Antigua
For one of our most exciting projects of the year, we were lucky enough to travel to the stunning island of Antigua. Working with the Sarum design team and Blue Waters Resort & Spa, we helped renovate the cove suites with a stunning new range of furniture. We crafted all the cabinetry, which includes the head boards, bedsides, dressing tables and console units to hide the mini bar.
Four Corners work on a number of commercial projects each year; this one was an especially rewarding and exciting project for us and we thoroughly enjoyed working with the interior designers to come up with these fresh designs.
Leaving a Lasting Impression
We had a fantastic time exhibiting at both the Home Building and Renovating show in March, as well as Grand Designs Live in October this year! The exhibition shows are a great opportunity for us to meet new clients and showcase our bespoke range of furniture and exceptional craftsmanship.
For the first time this year, we decided to replace our original floor exhibition stand with a beautifully crafted two storey stand, which certainly made an impact. Months of preparation went in to the planning and building, so we would be ready for a straight forward construction. However, the immensity of this stand meant that even for our skilled team of craftsmen, it would still take 48 hours to construct.
Nevertheless, the results were definitely worth it. Not only did it mean we had more floor space to show off our beautiful cabinetry and staircase, but it also showed off how we can ‘think outside the box’ by making internal Oak structures to make the most use of space. On our brand new show stand, we also exhibited the launch of our waney edge table which is proving ever popular, together with the waney edge worktops in the kitchen.
We are delighted to be exhibiting at the Home Building and Renovating show again in 2019, so be sure to join us NEC, Birmingham 28th – 31st March.
Black is the New Grey
As we move into 2019, we expect to see more beautifully crafted kitchens, like this one we created in Essex. Black is making a comeback, and this kitchen is a great example of how to make an impact with a bold choice of colour and texture.
The clients are a very sociable couple, who love to entertain and wanted their kitchen to suit their personality and lifestyle. We designed and built a kitchen and bar area with the wow factor. Their new wine storage is enough to make any wine lover jealous, and can hold up to 162 bottles of wine (not including the fridge), as well as an additional bar to the left.
The bar area uses mirrors to attract light into the corner of the room, and we also made a metal frame for the bar which add’s a slight industrial but elegant feel. Another trend we expect to see more of in 2019.
Keeping things Simple
We loved the sleek and simple design of this kitchen, and thoroughly enjoyed working on it. With it’s contemporary flat panelled doors and simplistic yet warm design, this was a perfect example of our Linear kitchen range.
Grey was a big colour this year, and the mix of statement grey and pale ash wood used for this project make the perfect combination for a classic contemporary kitchen. Another interesting feature of this kitchen, are the lit feature shelves on the back wall, adding to the clean simplistic look. Another trend we expect to see more of as we move into 2019.
Family Friendly in the Cotswolds
This country kitchen was a particular favourite of ours this year, due to its quirky integrated aspects. Our clients wanted to create a family friendly living space for all to enjoy, while also being safe for their small grandchildren to run around.
A Bookcase that Belonged
For this project we were asked to create a piece of furniture that looked as if it had always been part of the home. With ample storage for books, this painted distressed bookcase, made from a mix of cherry wood and stained timber, was the perfect finishing touch for our customer’s room.
Lighting up the Room
Another 2018 favourite of ours was this LED lit media unit with a sleek and simple design. Despite its minimalistic style this fitted furniture certainly makes a statement. A mix of painted, flat panelled doors with ash shelves in a graphite finish, this truly transforms the room.
Like what you see?
We are looking forward to working on more diverse projects in 2019, from the classic to the extraordinary, to the innovative and everything in between. Our team love the challenges presented by our customers’ different needs and working with them to create the perfect living space.
